Artist Headliner Poster

Tasked with creating a headliner poster for EDM house music artist, Dr. Fresch, I was very inspired by one of my favorite tracks he has released, Take A Step Back. Pulling the color pallet of this album cover, I was able to create the color scheme for my poster in order to keep his artist branding recognizable.

My original approach pictured in the bottom two posters was to primarily showcase his color palette while creating a fun and playful twist on his name with bubble letters. While the outcome was creative, my later versions redirected to his branding more accurately.

Version three (top left) and my final version (top right) have his original artist logo provided to me through his branding assets. Since his logo was more standard, I decided to get creative with the other design elements. Since his artist name has “doctor” in it, I wanted to make the surrounding serials around his picture look like DNA to portray the play on words from his name. I kept the same color palette as the original two posters, and it worked beautifully with his provided asset pictures as well.

Color Choice Explained

When deciding on the color scheme route I wanted to take for this project, I went to my favorite Dr. Fresch track, Take A Step Back. This album cover displays vibrant colors that I thought would suite my poster design nicely as well. I additionally drew inspiration from this cover art, noticing the color on a dark background choice, resulting in the text having an appealing contrasting element. I decided to use this same inspiration in my design, creating a color on dark background color dynamic, and pulling the same color scheme in order to create recognizable branding.
