Washington State University: Graphic Design
Creative Services Department for Washington State University Athletics
My internship is through Washington State Univeristy, and is for the graphic design team in the creative services department. My responsibilities include designing and conceptualizing print and web graphics, modifying/ builidng out file formats based on asset archives and the school’s branding. Mainly working in Illustrator and Photoshop, I have gained so much experience working with customers, school branding, and the creative process in general I feel confident carrying out projects from start to finish.Below are some of the main projects that I have worked on.
WSU Baseball Ice Cream Truck Graphic
Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate
Date: December 2022
Description: This project was a large-scale design to print project that is for an ice cream truck for the Washington State University baseball team. It was inspired by vintage ice cream signs, but still used WSU’s branded typeface. The graphics were all designed by hand, and the font reading, ‘ice cream’ was manipulated through Illustrator.
Below are the drafts including first iterations of the graphic, along with initial sketches done in Procreate.
Website Redesign Proposal and Survey
Wsucougars.com is the website used by Washington State University athletics to access a number of resources regarding the athletics programs.
Tasked with proposing rebranding ideas, I created a survey in order to gather data about the current usage patterns of the site.
The purpose of the survey was to gather information about key elements of current usage using these questions:
When logging into wsucougars.com, what is your original goal?
When using the search bar, what can designers do to make the type more legible?
Who do you think is the current demographic/group that is logging into wsucougars.com?
How easy is it to find what you’re looking for on the site?
What is your first impression when faced with the website? Is the design overwhelming or easy to navigate?
Through analyzing the test results, I was able to identify trends and present an analysis with actionable recommendations to the creative services team.
